Lewis Blackhouse, Arnol
A touch of home life on Lewis into the early sixties. The smoke here is from the peat fire which needs to burn continuously to keep the thatched roof from rotting.

Ein Hauch vom Leben auf Lewis bis in die frühen Sechziger. Der Rauch stammt von dem Torffeuer, das ständig glühen muss, um unter anderem das Reeddach gegen Verfall zu schützen.

@allerseits, ich habe mich über alle Kommentare gefreut! Bin immer noch sehr Stolz auf dieses Sternchen und das Bild, das bei mir im Großformat im Flur hängt:-)@Björn, vielen Dank! Das Motiv war genau so. Das Torffeuer muss dauernd brennen, und das Licht durch die Dachlücke hat den Rauch beleuchtet. Das Haus (und die ganzen Inseln) sind eine Reise wert! Kathryn
