Salting Mining at Lac Rose, Senegal
Lac Rose has an extremely high salt content. The salt cristalizes and can be scaped off from the bottom of the lake using small boats. It is then dried in the sun, sorted by quality and sold off to the city. Many smallholders earn a living like this.
