Il Dies Natalis Solis Invicti è la festività romana da cui deriva il Natale di Gesù Cristo celebrato dalla Chiesa Cattolica Romana.Nell’antica Roma si celebravano ufficialmente molti “Natali”: oltre al Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, si festeggiavano il Natale di Roma, il Natale degli imperatori e quello di alcune divinità (ad esempio il Natalis Minervae).
Il Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, cioè il Natale del Sole Invincibile era l’appellativo romano che si usava nel Basso Impero per varie divinità dell’ecumene romano di origine solare, come: Apollo, Mitra, El-Gabal ed Elios....
