Watermelons sold out in front of the citadel
The citadel, which has been suggested as another possible site for Alexander's fort, is known as the famous Citadel of Herat.
In late 330 BC, Alexander the Great captured the Arian capital that was called Artacoana. The town was rebuilt and the citadel was constructed.
