Hi Matthias thank you for taking time to take a look at some of my photos. I am happy I have had time for once to work at it. I hope to travel to the Mediterranean in the Spring and experiment more there. I will look at your site also. Regards David

Hello Matthias
In reference to your question "which impact has this procedure on the original photo? ".
I hope I don't over-explain.
I believe based on my understanding of what I have read grayscale images intended for visual display are commonly stored 8bits per pixel with 256 different intensities of gray tones per pixel, whereas RGB profiles such as sRGB and Adobe RGB 1998 color have intensities at 16.7 million. This method is for printing, not web display although I use these files on the web. I calibrate my monitor and printer for Adobe RGB profile work space. The Adobe RGB occupies 40% more volume than the sRGB profile, but by using Adobe profile in 8 bit colors it produces duller colors because of compression, so I convert from 8 bit to 16bit for the spare bits necessary for higher reproduction color or tone intensity in print. ( I export to printer16 bits) I scan my grayscale negatives as16 bit Adobe RGB work space and my digital camera adobe RGB files I converted to 2.2 gamma work space for grayscale reproduction. After editing I convert the grayscale 256 work space back to Adobe RGB for the hopefully 16.7 million color intensity reproduction of what you see on the monitor to print.I use Epson “Advance Black and White software” to print the Adobe RGB image files.Using this method has been satisfying, whether the method changes anything I don’t know, but it improved my print quality 100%. It boils down to calibrating your system though.I hope I have not overly rambled in this explanation, and I am most concerned that l am understandable. This is base on readings that I hope I interpreted correctly.
Hallo Matthias,
danke für deinen Profil-Kommentar. Freut mich die Leidenschaft mit dir zu teilen. :-)
Wünsche dir einen guten Start in die Woche.
