Comma Butterfly

The fascinating Comma butterfly lives in northern Africa, across Europe and Asia as far as Japan.

The wings of this butterfly are pretty colourful but have ragged edges and the underside is strikingly similar in appearance to dead leaves which is an excellent camouflage at the time of hibernating.

Dutch name : Gehakkelde Aurelia
German name : C-Falter
Latin name : Polygonia c-album
