Gli arbëreshë
Gli arbëreshë sono una minoranza etnico-linguistica albanese residente in Italia dal XV secolo, quando furono costretti all’esilio per sfuggire ai soprusi dei turchi-ottomani che avevano occupato l’Albania.
Sono di religione cattolica e seguono il rito greco-bizantino e il clero ha avuto una grande importanza nella conservazione delle loro tradizioni e della loro lingua.
In Calabria, con 35 comunità, vi è il maggior numero di comunità arbëreshë.
Questi insediamenti hanno la doppia denominazione, in lingua italiana e in arbëreshë.
The Arbëreshë are an Albanian ethnic-linguistic minority residing in Italy since the 15th century, when they were forced into exile to escape the oppression of the Ottoman Turks who had occupied Albania.
They are of Catholic religion and follow the Greek-Byzantine rite and the clergy had a great importance in the preservation of their traditions and their language.
In Calabria, with 35 communities, there is the largest number of Arberese communities.
These settlements have the double denomination, in Italian and in Arbëreshë.
