In search of scraps
September is the month where the locals at Barter island Kaktovic Alaska start their hunt on a couple of bowhead and or other whales. Their meat is consumed by the people of the community , remains are piled up at the famous bone pile. The image shows a 3 year old male on the search for scraps. this was the only polar bear we have seen during our 5 day stay although been intensively one the search on sea and land.
