Mr. Black
This fellow is a steady visitor to our feeders throughout the winter months. He is actually a red or fox squirrel whichever you choose. If you look closely the red is predominate in places. They are not as plenty full in Omaha as they are across the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. One explanation I've heard is that one in one thousand are born with this genetic mutation. I need to so more research on this subject.

winter must have been hard on him, too: with his thin tail and ragged coat he looks a little bedraggled… rat?? i'm outraged! ; )) can't help but find him really cute looking, even though one of his conscienceless relatives ; ) is regularly raiding my birdfeeder, gobbling up every nut and sunflower seed he can find and taking irreverent little digestive naps in the feeder afterwards… love the inquisitive pose you captured him in, and the adorable little gleam in his black eye! greetings, sabine.BRYAN CRUTE 11/03/2013 11:27
We have Black squirrels over here too but we call them Rats !look cute but are still vermin sadly.
