Ratten Clough farm barn ruins

Ratten Clough was one of the 48 "lost" farms of Brinscall Moors following Liverpool Corporations purchase of the moors as water gathering grounds.

    Thanks for comment.
    History not very sad!
All the farms were tenanted and small - 3acres to 20 acres of moorland - and when L'pool bought the land most of the people living on the moor worked in the local quarries or textile mills. No one was forced out. The farms were demolished when the tenants, left for very early H&S reasons.
If the farms hadn't been demolished they would now be rich peoples retreats with no benefit to the local economy.
    Cheers
    Jeff
