Sunnyside TrainScape No.1

Amidst the patterns of high-voltage catenary on this September afternoon, rows of
Amtrak and New Jersey Transit coaches and locomotives await their next assignments
in the huge Sunnyside Yard complex in Long Island City, Queens, NYC.

But all is not "static," as a New York-bound Amtrak Acela Express speeds past on the Northeast Corridor mainline.

And looking beyond the Acela, one sees a 7 Train of the New York City Subway system negotiating the
ramp leading upwards from 33rd St/Rawson St station to 40th St/Lowery St, on its way to Flushing/Main St.

If this were not enough stimulation for a train-lover, if one exercises a bit of imagination, just beyond where
the Acela is passing, one may conjure up the frequent procession of Long Island Rail Road commuter trains,
both electric- and diesel-powered (which I will show in a future Sunnyside TrainScape).
