Am 26ten Januar feiern wir Australien Tag - an diesen Tag 1788 hat Kapitän Arthur Phillip die britsche Flagge in Sydney Cove gehißt und proklamierte britische Souveränität über die Ostküste von Australien.
1808 war die Erste aufgezeichnete Feier am 26ten Januar.
1817 wurde der Vorschlag gemacht den Kontinet Australien zunennen, statt New Holland.
Erst seit 1994 feiern alle Staaten und Territorien diesen Tag an dem wirklichen Tag.
Die australische Flagge enstand am 1sten Januar 1901 nach der Federation: der Union Jack beteutet die Verbindung mit Groß Britanien - das Kreuz des Südens ist ein wichtiges navigations Merkmal in der südlichen Hemisphere - der große Stern ist der Stern der Federation und hat 7 Spitzen, gewidmet den 6 Staaten & verbundenen Territorien.
Die Flagge weht stolz über unserem Haus, sowie sie auch bei vielen anderen - bei uns sogar mit einen Australischen Magpie!

On the 26th January we celebrate Australia Day - on this day 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip unfurls the British flag at Sydney Cove and proclaims British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia.
1808 was the first recorded celebrations on 26th January.
1817 was recommended to name the continent Australia, replacing New Holland.
Only since 1994 did all States and Territories begin to celebrate Australia Day on the actual day for the first time.
The Australian Flag came into being on the 1st Janury 1901 after Federation: the Union Jack is the link with Great Britain - the Southern Cross is a significant navigational feature of the southern Hemisphere - the big star is the Commonwealth Star and has seven points, donated to the 6 States and combined Territories.
This Flag fly's proudly above our house, as at it does at many others too - at our place even with an Australian Magpie!
