White Water Lily

Water lilies grow only in stand still freshwaters, like large ponds and lakes, with both leaves and flowers floating on the water surface. The white petals often have a pinkish tinge, as can be seen in the shot.

Hundreds of years ago, the roots of the plant were crushed and mixed with wine by monks and nuns as a contra-aphrodisiac…….
Did it work ? No idea.
