Broken Stadium - Sport Lisboa Benfica - Portugal
Sport Lisboa Benfica Stadium in Lisbon. The club is constructing a new stadium very near the old one, so near that they have to broke down a part of the old one to have place for the new one.
The old stadium (in the picture) some years ago have a capacity of 120000 spectators !!! but FIFA say that all of the stadium must have marked seats,so the capacity went down to 80000 spectators. 15 years ago it was the second biggest stadium in the world after maracana (Brazil) ! Even today is a fantastic stadium, beutifull, but is old... and safety is not as big as it could be. We will have the european championchip in Portugal in 2004, so we are constructing new stadiums for the euro 2004. This new stadium from my club (Benfica - Sport Lisboa e Benfica) is going to be the biggest in Portugal but not so big as the old one.
