Fishermen's Monument

This statue shows a woman from Urk looking back at the sea where her husband went and didn't come back.
One of the most expressive statues we saw in the Netherlands.
In the background the names of the fishermen who died at sea. Their ages range from 10 to 72 years old.

A beautiful and poignant statue that commemorates the lost fishermen. There is a similar statue in Alesund who also looks out to the sea and for the same reasons [I think]:))
