: )) to tell you the truth: i kinda like the golden light on her holiness, the sociable cow! it makes her look special, as she literally seems to be bathing both in the sunshine and in all the attention she's getting, even by "old hairy arms", who, i think, is humbly taking her picture. – – "ah, to be a cow in india! it's mostly paradise," she muses, "and yet, there's one thing missing, a thing that would make my life complete: it's awfully hot today, my friendly, tea-selling man, and i see you've slipped out of your shoes. so would you kindly share your secret with me and help me remove my hoofs, too?!"; )

Leo, yes, avoiding is a radical method - but you simply can't "make the light and shadows"... and not taking this photo would have meant not taking all the other 40 or so photos on the same occasion...Of course, you have to take into account that with the light far from optimal your photos will only be far from optimal...

@ Heidi - ja, der haarige Arm ist ärgerlich, ihn stempeln wäre eher schwierig, schneiden ginge, dann müsste (nach meinem "ehernen Gesetz" des Beibehaltens der 2:3-Proportion :-))) eben unten einiges weg, bis knapp unter die Schlappen.@ Leo - my camera does have the AEL Funktion and I use it sometimes. Here, however, if I had set the exposure on the very light parts of the cow, I fear that the rest would be horribly "charcoaly" :-) Certainly, I could lighten this up in Photoshop but I think it would be much too much lightening up - would look terrible. By the way, the left part of the image was already lightenend up considerably.

Die Zwei scheinen sich zu kennen :-) Wenn man solche Situationen nicht aus eigener Erfahrung kennt, freut man sich (ich jedenfalls) über ein Foto wie dieses und da sind mir kleine Mängel absolut unwichtig.LG Trude :-)

Ein gutgenährtes Zebu (Buckelrind) das wohl auf Inspektionrunde in seinem Revier ist. Langsam wird es fast Zeit, eine Sektion "Kühe in Indien" zu eröffnen. :-))Sie sind immer wieder ein lohnendes Motiv und immer wieder anders.
Hier hätte ich jetzt versucht, durch Schnitt und/oder stempeln den haarigen Arm des Touristen zu entfernen. Der stört die Idylle doch empfindlich.
Wie war das mit halber Kuh ? (insider)

Leo - there were big light contrasts - and I frankly don't know how to manage such contrasts... Grateful for hints how to do it....
