Golden gondola in its hangar

Every year, in the Burmanian month of Thadingyut (from September to October), an 18-day festival is held, in which four of the five Buddha statues are placed on a replica of the royal barque (designed as a Hintha bird) and driven across Inle Lake. A statue always stays in its permanent place in the temple. The artfully decorated barge is towed by several leg rowers' boats and other escort boats, so that an impressive procession takes place on the water. The barge is then passed clockwise from village to village along the shores of the lake and the four Buddha statues in each village are laid out for one night.
This magnificent ceremony would be worth an own trip to Burma.
