Your critique was right. And the picture needs to be sharper. On reflection - subconsciously - I think I may have been trying to mimic one of the beautiful sand-dunes that cathy blatt (another member ), photographs. This is a shallow Northumbrian Hill tragically pretending to be a sand-dune in the desert. At the end of the day - I should recognise that all praise and any criticism should fall on the camera. Our role is really pretty limited. mark

Totally agree. Another person never looks at your picture with the same empathy. So it's been degraded to an object to be discussed - looking for the pros and contras. That hurts some times, but is natural as well. I think the most important is that you like your picture - it speaks to you.

Yes, I agree. The picture is not right, and a bit boring. As to why that is, I'm not sure. I liked the fact that there are animals in the bottom right - but they are too small for the picture. Personally - i still liked the picture - because the triangular shadow on the top of the hill - and the interconnection of the light and the shade - made me feel sad. It's like a visual sigh, as far as i am concerned. ("Pseud's corner" , but never mind. Sometimes i think the image is looking at me, as much as i am looking at the image ; and most pictures have something to do with empathy and fellow-feeling,

Contrary to the other photo with the fine lines I find this one a bit boring. And the leading line to the top is too much in the shade. But that's my personal opinion.
