New restored monastery buildings at Drepung

The Chinese authorities do a lot of renovations at the holy shrines which they destroyed before during the invasion in 1951.
Now it seems that they do it for the image and to lure foreign tourists to the former Tibetan culture scenes.
In March 2008 Drepung was closed again by the Chinese authorities, after monk-led protests against Chinese rule turned violent and businesses, shops and vehicles were looted and torched.
Far at the background near the mountain foot is the new built railway station.
