Osprey
Pandion haliaetus
This species was on the way to extinction but protections have resulted in increased numbers. Around waterways they compete aggressively with bald eagles, and gulls. Their presence results in the increased survival of heron eggs and chicks. This nest is about 200 meters from our new home.

We don’t have these in our area - even if we’re lucky to have some little (moory) lakes around. But you can find heron and stork.So good to see ospreys alive in your captures, Archie!
