People at Pha That Luang
Late afternoon in Vientiane people stay near the landmark of the Golden Pagoda which marks the holy pagoda in the capital of Vientiane.
Pha That Luang is a very sacred monument and one of Laos' most impressive religious structures. It was founded in the 3rd century to house the breastbone of Buddha, which was brought to Laos by an Indian missionary.
The current structure was built by King Setthathirat in 1566, after Vientiane became the capital of Laos.

So sah es auch im Sommer 2022 aus, allerdings mit viel weniger Menschen. Obwohl ich an einem Sonntag dort war gab es nur ganz, ganz wenige Besucher und nur einen einzelnen einsamen Cola-Verkäufer. In den 80er Jahren war hier auf diesem Platz täglich ein von vielen Menschen besuchter großer Markt. Das hat mir viel besser gefallen als die jetzige doch sehr sterile parkähnliche Umgebung. Aber die goldene Pagode ist schon wirklich sehr sehenswert und auch fotogen.LG, Herbert
