Rosy camouflage --- Phasianus colchicus L.

Hier ein Foto eines Fasanen-Weibchens von der Insel Spiekeroog, dass ich letzte Woche gemacht habe. Fasane kommen ursprünglich aus China und der Mongolei, wurden aber schon in der Antike und bis in die Neuzeit vom Menschen als Zuchttier über die ganze Welt verbreitet. Viel erzählen kann ich nicht, dass man nicht auch auf Wikipedia nachlesen könnte, allerdings sind mir auf der Insel ein paar Besonderheiten aufgefallen: Den Männchen fehlt der weiße Feder-Ring um den Hals, womit man schon etwas auf die Unterart (P. c. colchicus) spekulieren kann. Die Weibchen rufen, wenn sie Junge haben, ständig ein ganz subtiles "glucken" mit dem es mir sehr leicht viel, sie auszumachen. Und das wohl auffälligste ist, dass die Fasane auf der Insel sehr an den Menschen gewöhnt und beinahe zutraulich sind. Vermutlich wegen Zufütterung von Touris. Dennoch verhalf mir genau das zu dem tollen Foto.

Here the picture of a female pheasant, taken on the island of Spiekeroog, Germany. Pheasants are actually only native to China and Mongolia. However, throughout the centuries, starting with the ancient romans and all the way up to the present day, they were dispersed by humans and occur now worldwide. There is not much I can tell you that you couldn’t look up on Wikipedia, still, I recognized some details specific to these island-pheasants. They are lacking the typical white ring of feathers around the neck, allowing the speculation that these individuals might belong to the subspecies P. c. colchicus. If females have chicks, they constantly make noises to inform them about their location. And at last, it was especially striking for me that all of them are incredible used to the presence of humans. Might be a result of feeding tourist and it simplified me attempts immense.
