The Cloisters Museum and Gardens
the Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts, sits high up on the ridge overlooking the City on one side and the Hudson river on the other side. John D. Rockefeller donated the Buildings and grounds. The Architect Charles Collen incoporated many of the medieval elements into the building itself. The Museum first opend to the public in 1938.
The Work featured includes primarily medieval Western European collections, including sculptures, stain glass, tapestries, paintings and metalwork.

An enchanting treasure of Manhattan...in the city, yet so far removed, one can imagine oneself in another place, another age.Nicely captured, with the foreground tree silhouetted and the vivid tree blossoms providing a color accent.

Das Mauerwerk in seinem kräftigen Grau erinnertstark an Bauten in England. Das Guckloch läßt
Dir genug Freiraum, um uns den Turm des Museums
fotografisch zu zeigen. Wenn die Blätter alle erst mal da sein werden, wirst Du von den unteren Häusern
nicht mehr viel sehen.

hier einige ergänzungen von wikipedia:"Die Idee für ein Museum mittelalterlicher Kunst in New York City geht zurück auf den Bildhauer und Kunstsammler George Grey Barnard (1863-1938). Dieser hatte neben zahlreichen Kunstwerken, auch Architekturfragmente aus fünf französischen Klöstern zusammengetragen. Hierzu gehörten Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Bonnefont-en-Comminges im Departement Haute-Garonne, Trie-en-Bigorre im Departement Hautes-Pyrénées, und Froville im Departement Meurthe-et-Moselle.
