The Living Forest (465) : Long-horned Grasshopper

Insects play an important role in the living forest (pollinate process, natural housekeeping, food for birds,…)
Most of them can be found in the open spaces, like this grasshopper, belonging to the Tettigoniidae family (known in American English as shield-backed katydids and in British English as bush-crickets).

My shot shows a long-horned grasshopper, which lives mainly in central and south Europe.
A VERY RARE species in Belgium ! (I’m very glad I could shoot one).

Dutch name : Zaagsprinkhaan (familie der Sabelsprinkhanen).
German name : Laubholz-Säbelschrecke (aus der Familie der Laubheuschrecken)
Latin name : Barbitistes serricauda
