The Red Scales
and here is the scene at the fish market for everyone who missed the colours in my monochrome version ....
I find that the eye gets drawn to the scales and their bright red - therefore my black and white preference :-))

I love them both and think you are right in presenting the two versions. Here the red scale is a nice accent (as is the bowl). On the other hand, the B/W allows one to really enjoy the textures in the scales (fish-scales, that is!).Thanks, Adele, for showing us both.
