The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

and this is as close as we got … the mosque was blocked off, all was deserted except for watchmen who told us men were working on the roof (you can see them in the picture) …. so disappointing.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, is the main mosque in the Emirate of Fujairah and is the second largest in the United Arab Emirates after the mosque with the same name in Abu Dhabi. The mosque opened in 2015.
Similar in appearance to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, this large white mosque in the centre of the city is a landmark that is visible from many locations. It can hold around 28,000 worshippers. It has 65 domes and six minarets, between 80 and 100 metres in height. The courtyard of the mosque, with fountains and gardens, can hold 14,000 people.
