The Torch of Friendship

his bright red sculpture, titled The Torch of Friendship can be found in downtown San Antonio, Texas.
The sculpture was created in Mexico by the renowned Mexican sculptor Sebastian.

It was presented to the city of San Antonio by the Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos en San Antonio,
along with the Mexican General Consulate, the Instituto Cultural Mexicano and other leaders from the Mexican community living in San Antonio.

Tower of the Americas is a 750-foot observation tower/restaurant in San Antonio, Texas.
The tower was designed by San Antonio architect O'Neil Ford and was built as the theme structure of the 1968 World's Fair, HemisFair '68.

Construction of the tower began on August 9, 1966 and was completed in approximately 18 months,
just in time for the opening ceremonies for the fair held on April 6, 1968.

The tower was the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until 1996,
when the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower was completed
