APPARTAMENTO BORGIA - SALA del CREDO
La Sala del Credo ha un impianto con un soffitto decorato da complessi a motivi geometrici in cui si incontrano stemmi papali e divise borgiane. La decorazione figurata si limita alle dodici lunette, che mostrano coppie di Apostoli e profeti del tutto analoghi alle coppie della stanza precedente. Essi simboleggiano le concordanze tra Vecchio e Nuovo Testamento, e sono pure raffigurati a mezza figura su sfondo blu neutro, circondati da sinuosi cartigli con brani di Sacre Scritture.
L'autore delle lunette mostra accenti toscani mediati dalla cultura umbra, ed è stato indicato in Piermatteo d'Amelia detto convenzionalmente "Maestro di Toscolano", attivo nel viterbese nel 1493.
The following Sala del Credo has a similar layout to the previous one, with a ceiling decorated with complex geometric motifs in which papal coats of arms and Borgian uniforms meet. The figurative decoration is limited to the twelve lunettes, which show couples of Apostles and prophets quite similar to the couples in the previous room. They symbolize the concordances between the Old and New Testaments, and are also depicted in half figure on a neutral blue background, surrounded by sinuous scrolls with passages from the Holy Scriptures.
The author of the lunettes shows Tuscan accents mediated by the Umbrian culture, and has been indicated in Piermatteo d'Amelia , conventionally called "Maestro di Toscolano", active in the Viterbo area in 1493
