I suppose this is the image you mentioned in your last comment which shows the people on the beach. It is still quite empty. Germany has lakes much more crowded (and politicans beeing much more concerned about it).By the way - you asked where I am from. The city is called Lünen and situated directly in the north of Dortmund. It is the northern and eastern end of the "ruhr area". You called it "Ruhr" - I am not sure which term is commonly used in English. So I suppose "Ruhr" is better.
