Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands.
Although there is some evidence of earlier inhabitation in the region of Utrecht,
dating back to the Stone Age (app. 2200 BCE) and settling in the Bronze Age
(app. 1800–800 BCE), the founding date of the city is usually related to the
construction of a Roman fortification (castellum), probably built in around 50 CE.

Great scene and document of the wonderful city of Utrecht, Peter....I love those 'werfkelders' at the waterline, in earlier days used as warehouses..compliment for a great composition in fine light..

I know that this is the Netherlands, that you are past masters at keeping all water at a safe level... but here it does look rather dangerous, especially if the tide rises...A superb scene showing well the houses on the banks of this waterway.
