This old quarry stone bridge was pelted with 185 tons of bombs (500 bombs from 48 bombers) on 2 days during Operation Clarion in World War II, as it was considered an important part of the German infrastructure, the bridge is still standing today, but on February 23, 1945 199 people in the small town of Oettingen were killed
