Einer unserer Stopps auf unserer Reise diesen Sommer war Budapest. Das war auch die Stadt, die uns am meisten positiv überrascht hat, u.a. auch durch diese wundervollen Bauten. Das besonderste Bauwerk ist wohl das das Parlament, die Politik dort ist allerdings nicht so beeindruckend :-(
Das 268 Meter lange, direkt am Donauufer gelegene Gebäude ist eines der Wahrzeichen Budapests. Als Vorbild diente der Palace of Westminster, Sitz des britischen Parlaments in London. Architekt des im neogotischen Stil errichteten Gebäudes ist Imre Steindl. Die Bauzeit dauerte von 1885 bis 1904.

One of our stops on our trip this summer was Budapest. This was also the city that surprised us the most, partly because of these wonderful buildings. The most special building is probably the Parliament, but the politics there are not so impressive :-(
The 268-metre-long building, situated directly on the banks of the Danube, is one of Budapest's landmarks. It was modelled on the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament in London. The architect of the neo-Gothic style building is Imre Steindl. Construction lasted from 1885 to 1904.
