Von Budapest hatte ich ja schon geschwärmt …
Und eine der bekanntesten Bauten, neben dem Parlament, ist die Kettenbrücke. Sie wurde 1839-1849 gebaut und ist die älteste und bekannteste der neun Budapester Straßenbrücken über die Donau. Sie wird von zwei triumphbogenartigen Stützpfeilern getragen, durch die die eisernen Ketten des 375 Meter langen Brückenkörpers verlaufen.
Auch bei der Bevölkerung könnte man auf die Idee kommen, dass sie in Ketten liegt …

I had already raved about Budapest ...
And one of the most famous buildings, apart from the Parliament, is the Chain Bridge. It was built between 1839 and 1849 and is the oldest and most famous of Budapest’s nine road bridges over the Danube. It is supported by two triumphal arch-like pillars through which the iron chains of the 375 metre long bridge run.
Even the locals might get the idea that they are in chains ...
